After Rick Ross proclaimed pears as the fruit of his choice, some people unequivocally made the green snack their fruit of the week. According to Modern Farmer, Ricky’s decision to tap into the pear market inflated their presence on social media. Here’s what USA Pears’ spokeswoman Kathy Stephenson had to say regarding Ricky’s contributions.
“On behalf of our 1,600 pear growers from the Northwest region, we are pleased that Rick has mentioned the health benefits of pears,” Stephenson writes in an email to Modern Farmer, adding that pears provide 24 percent of the recommended daily intake of fiber, which helps curb an appetite. “Overall, we could not be more pleased with our message being delivered to a new, young and hip demographic.”
They also credited Ross for helping their twitter account land hundreds of new followers. The power of the boss.
Hood Billionaire drops Nov. 24. Shoutout to all the pears.

Well, this is awkward. Yesterday (Nov. 10), Young Money rapper Tyga was handcuffed by police officers during a video shoot in South Central LA. According to a report from TMZ, the 24-year-old rapper was pulled over while driving in a Rolls Royce, and was put in handcuffs as a result of reckless driving; a report that has been confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department.
It’s not clear why Tyga was put in handcuffs, but he was eventually released. His bodyguard on the other hand, was arrested for possession of a gun that was not registered in California.

And like that, Drake drops three heaters on the Internet. The Young Money soldier is in a giving mood today releasing a trio of tracks, “6 God,” “Heat of The Moment” and “How About Now.” Could any or all of these be off his upcoming LP? “6 God” is produced by Boi-1da and Syk Sense. 40 is behind “Heat of The Moment” while Boi-1da and Jordan Evans provided the “How About Now” instrumental. Aubrey’s forthcoming album, Views From The 6 is coming in 2015.

Despite the drama Iggy Azalea has been dealing with lately, she still has a reason to smile. The Australian rapper and her NBA player boyfriend Nick Young have just been named the new faces of Forever 21‘s holiday campaign. Azalea, who also serves as a Wilhelmina model, recently chopped it up with People to discuss her first national campaign and how fun it was to shoot with her man.
“As the hours rolled by I think Nick started to realize photoshoots are hard work too,” said Azalea to People. “It was funny watching him have that revelation!” Young also had a great time taking pointers for his rapper/model girlfriend: “It was real cool. We had great chemistry,” said Young.
The two also revealed their chemistry on set, what apparel they would love to wear and how childhood gifts like a Mongoose bike and Baby Born doll gave them feelings of nostalgia.

British R&B singer Jay Sean has decided to part ways with Cash Money Records after six years on the label. Sean dropped three albums while on CMR but appears to be looking for a change of scenery. The label has had its share of controversy recently with both Tyga and Lil Twist expressing their disdain. But, according to the singer, his split was amicable. “I had and still maintain a great relationship with Slim and Baby,” he told Billboard. “They believed in me and my talent and our partnership obviously garnered a lot of pop success.”
Sean looks to be taking his career in a different direction. “It got to the point where I was chasing pop success and ‘the smash’ when really my heart wasn’t in it anymore,” he said. “That’s not why I got into this game.” The uber popular UK artist will be putting on a new mixtape titled, Mistress II, in November. Check out the latest release from the project, “Tears In The Ocean,” below.
